Beginner MTB SPOTS:

Leif Erickson/Forest Park - Very scenic wide path with no cars, goes as far as you want to. A great intro to Forest Park!

Thousand Acres - A huge and flat natural area just past Troutdale that’s also an off-leash dog park. Good for swimming in the summer!

Powell Butte - The closest actual mountain biking in Portland. Some climbing. Fun trails that aren’t too challenging.

Gateway Green - Portland’s ONLY MTB park! Varying levels of jump tracks and short, feature-rich trails.

Whipple Creek - Gorgeous PNW rainforest with wide, easy trails, not much climbing.

Deschutes River Trail - Great for bikepacking and overnight camping.

Intermediate / Advanced MTB SPOTS:

Sandy Ridge - World-class MTB trails past Sandy, OR towards Mt. Hood. Long climb up service road in the beginning.

Timberline to Town - $2 shuttle bus up to Timberline Lodge and ride 15 miles downhill to Rhododendron. Summer only.

Timberline Bike Park
- Take a ski lift up to some fun, well-ridden trails of all levels.

Post Canyon - World-class MTB trail network near Hood River. Easy to shuttle. RYRY’s favorite!

Syncline - AKA Coyote Wall, Stunning views on the Washington side of the gorge.

Whoopdee Trail - A super-fun 10 mile loop outside Hood River. Cool features, stunning views, ends with a 900ft. climb (!).

8 Mile Trail - Might actually be 6.7 miles

Surveyor’s Ridge - “One of the top trails in the state… Surveyor's Ridge is a Pacific Northwest must-ride. ” said some guy.

Cold Creek / Tarbell Loop - If you take your mountain biking with a side of waterfalls

*Rocky Butte- good views, good climb, fun descent (92nd and Fremont)

*Centaur Guitar- Lots of neat, weird guitars, amps, and effects.  (28th and NE Sandy)

The Zipper- new indoor food court, PDX-style.  Chickpeadx is our fav!  (27th and NE Sandy)

*Marine Drive Bike Path- nice views of Mt. Hood and the airport.  Goes to Troutdale. Take 33rd northwards.

*Pip's Original Donuts- (NE 48th and Fremont)

*The Waypost- Drinks, music, food (N Williams and Fargo)

*In Other Words- Feminist community center and bookstore (NE Killingsworth and Williams)

*Microcosm Publishing- Cool counterculture bookstore/zineshop and paraphernalia (NE Graham and Williams) 

*Laurelthirst Public House- Great nightly free music (NE 29th and Glisan)
